Summary

Bovine-derived thrombin, used for surgical hemostasis, can cause immune-mediated coagulopathy. This case highlights the risk in patients with prior exposure, even if unknown, necessitating heightened clinical suspicion.

  • Plasma mixing studies suggested the presence of factor V and thrombin inhibitors.
