Background:

Adult intussusception is rare, with malignancy found in 50% of cases.
Traditionally managed with open surgery, intussusception now presents minimally invasive options.
Colonic tumors are a frequent cause of adult intussusception, necessitating oncological consideration.

Observation:

A 62-year-old female presented with 6 weeks of abdominal pain.
CT scan revealed proximal large bowel intussusception.
The patient underwent a laparoscopic extended right hemicolectomy with primary anastomosis.

Findings:

Histology confirmed a pT4, N0, M0 adenocarcinoma of the colon.
No lymph nodes were involved (0/25).
The patient experienced an uneventful post-operative recovery.

Implications:

Laparoscopic resection is a viable option for adult intussusception, especially when malignant.
Experienced surgeons are crucial for oncological safety in laparoscopic colorectal resections.
Minimally invasive techniques facilitate rapid recovery and earlier adjuvant therapy if needed.
