Abstract:
A need existed to rapidly document the quality of care in an emergency room (ER). To fill this need, a computer-assisted, timely, clinically focused review of ER care was established in an Army hospital. Specialists were used as primary reviewers. Providers received rapid feedback. The command suite was provided with timely and specific quality assurance and risk management data, and patient complaints decreased.
