NF-kappaB inhibitors impair platelet activation responses

Nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappaB) regulates platelet activation and function. Inhibiting NF-kappaB in platelets may offer therapeutic benefits for inflammatory and anti-tumor applications.

- Inhibitors also decreased thrombin-induced ATP release, TXB2 formation, P-selectin expression, ERK phosphorylation, and cPLA2 activity; ADP-induced aggregation was impaired in vivo.
Conclusions:
- NF-kappaB acts as a novel mediator of platelet responses.
- Blocking platelet function via NF-kappaB inhibitors could be beneficial in anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory therapies.
