Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in women is linked to altered thyroid-gonad hormones. Patients showed lower tri-iodo-thyronine and testosterone, but higher estradiol and luteinizing hormone, suggesting sex steroid involvement in SLE pathogenesis.
