An assessment of functioning and non-functioning distractors in multiple-choice questions: a descriptive analysis

Most multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in nursing tests have fewer than three functioning distractors, indicating difficulty in developing effective options. Item analysis can improve MCQ quality by identifying and removing non-functioning distractors.
