The equivocal appendix at CT: prevalence in a control population.

Computed tomography (CT) reveals that up to 6.6% of normal appendices can appear isodense with a diameter over 6 mm. Airless fluid in a normal appendix lumen is rare, occurring in less than 1% of cases.
