Prolactin-releasing peptide regulates cardiac contractility

Prolactin-releasing peptide (PrRP) directly enhances heart muscle contraction. This novel cardiovascular role of PrRP is independent of cAMP and involves complex interactions with protein kinase C alpha and protein phosphatase 1.
