Voxel-based morphometry and automated lobar volumetry: the trade-off between spatial scale and statistical correction

Voxel-based morphometry (VBM) is more sensitive than automated lobar region of interest (ROI) volumetry for detecting gray matter differences. VBM is preferred for assessing group differences in brain anatomy due to its superior detection of focal deficits.
