Evidenced-based review of clinical studies on endodontic microflora

The study of pathogens related to the development of pulpal inflammation and necrosis and the ultimate development of apical periodontitis represents a central feature of contemporary endodontic research. The pace of research in this field has greatly accelerated over the last decade caused in part by the introduction of molecular methods and the growing recognition of both microbial and nonmicrobial pathogens implicated in this disease process. Here, we provide an analysis of a recent clinical study published in this area.
