Benefits of Data Cartridge technology for handling chemical information

Abstract:
The dramatic increase in the number of biological targets, identified by genomics research, coupled with the increasing reliance on combinatorial chemistry and high-throughput screening (HTS), has caused a paradigm shift in the way pharmaceutical research is conducted compared with only a few years ago. Such research has led to a rapid acceleration in the volume of biological data being generated, which in turn needs to be managed, analyzed and understood in the context of the chemical structures to which it relates. The handling of structural information, alongside numbers and text, within a 'Data Cartridge' is an emerging technology which promises to revolutionize the way in which such information is stored, providing an environment which is 'in tune' with the needs of modern pharmaceutical research.
