The effect of atypical antipsychotics on plasma lipid pools, cholesterol, and triglycerides
Abstract:
This article reviews published findings concerning lipid abnormalities that have been associated with the use of atypical antipsychotics. Results from both clinical studies and case series about each of the atypical antipsychotics are presented in conjunction with the few studies that have compared the lipid effects of these drugs with each other. Factors that complicate reliable assessment of the impact of antipsychotic treatment on lipid metabolism are discussed.
