Summary

Any mental status change after trauma is a concussion, even without loss of consciousness. Routine neuroimaging is unnecessary for concussion diagnosis, but vital for severe cases.

Concussion diagnosis and management guidelines.
Importance of accurate assessment following head trauma.

Observation:

Mental status alterations post-trauma should be considered concussions, irrespective of consciousness loss.
Routine neuroimaging is not indicated for diagnosing concussion.

Findings:

Neuroimaging is crucial for patients with prolonged unconsciousness, focal neurological deficits, or symptom exacerbation.
Acetaminophen or ibuprofen are recommended for managing post-concussive headaches.

Implications:

Clinical practice should focus on clinical evaluation over routine neuroimaging for concussion.
Effective pain management strategies are essential for patient recovery.
