    Summary

Capacitive-mesh output couplers enhance far-infrared molecular lasers across a broad spectrum (42 micrometers to 1.2 mm). A new hybrid coupler improves performance at shorter wavelengths.

    Area of Science:

    • Physics
    • Spectroscopy
    • Laser Technology

    Background:

    • Optically pumped molecular lasers are crucial for far-infrared (FIR) spectroscopy.
    • Capacitive-mesh output couplers are essential components for efficient laser operation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To extend the spectral range of capacitive-mesh output couplers for FIR lasers.
    • To optimize grid constants for various FIR laser lines.
    • To enhance laser performance at shorter FIR wavelengths.

    Main Methods:

    • Investigated capacitive-mesh output couplers across the 42 micrometer to 1.2 mm FIR spectrum.
    • Determined optimal grid constants for several FIR laser lines.
    • Developed and tested a novel hybrid capacitive-mesh hole output coupler.
