Background:

  • Primary bladder lymphoma is uncommon, with extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (MALT-lymphoma) being the most frequent type.
  • Primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) of the bladder is exceptionally rare, with only one prior reported case.

Observation:

  • A 75-year-old female presented with acute renal failure.
  • Initial investigations revealed post-renal obstruction secondary to bladder wall thickening.

Findings:

  • The patient was diagnosed with primary DLBCL of the bladder.
  • Three cycles of R-CHOP chemotherapy effectively resolved the obstruction and achieved clinical remission.

Implications:

  • This case adds to the limited literature on primary DLBCL of the bladder.
  • R-CHOP chemotherapy demonstrates efficacy in treating this rare condition and its complications.
