Impact of renal function on coronary plaque composition

Patients with impaired renal function have more lipid-rich coronary plaque, increasing cardiovascular risk. This study used integrated backscatter intravascular ultrasound (IB-IVUS) to analyze plaque composition in relation to kidney function.

- Findings may elucidate the heightened cardiovascular event risk in renal dysfunction patients.
