Axis-alignment method for arc-fusion splice of single-mode fiber using a beam splitter
Abstract:
A new axis-alignment method for single-mode fibers is proposed. To align core axes of the fibers to be spliced, light beams are excited by bending the fibers near the splice point; the fiber end faces are observed through a beam splitter. An average splice loss of 0.09 dB is attained.
