Summary

A rare case of Candida sinusitis leading to subdural empyema in an AIDS patient is detailed. Prompt surgical intervention and antifungal treatment yielded a positive outcome.

  • Subdural empyema is a rare but serious complication of fungal sinusitis.
  • Patients with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) are particularly susceptible to opportunistic infections, including invasive fungal sinusitis.
  • Candida sinusitis can present with symptoms mimicking other invasive fungal infections like aspergillosis or phycomycosis.
