This study investigated the link between Interleukin-1 (IL-1) gene region markers and osteoarthritis (OA). While not confirmed, findings suggest a possible association between IL-1 region variations and hand and hip osteoarthritis risk.

- Findings suggest a potential, albeit weak, association between the IL-1 region, particularly IL1B and IL1RN, and risk for hand and hip OA.
- Further research with larger cohorts and refined haplotype analysis is warranted to clarify these associations.
