Summary

Primary bone angiosarcomas are rare aggressive vascular tumors. A unique chromosomal rearrangement, t(1;14)(p21;q24), was identified in a tibia primary bone angiosarcoma case, a finding not previously reported.

  • Cytogenetic abnormalities are frequently observed in soft tissue angiosarcomas but largely unreported in primary bone angiosarcomas.

Observation:

  • This report details a case of primary bone angiosarcoma in a 79-year-old woman's tibia.
  • A unique clonal chromosomal rearrangement, t(1;14)(p21;q24), was identified in the tumor cells.

Findings:

  • The identified translocation, t(1;14)(p21;q24), is novel and has not been previously documented in primary bone or soft tissue angiosarcomas.
  • The 1p21 locus, involved in the translocation, is near the colony stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1) gene.
