    Summary

    Background:

    • Serum ferritin (SF) is a known biomarker for various conditions including malignancies, chronic inflammation, liver disease, and iron overload in adults.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the correlation between serum ferritin concentrations and disease activity in children diagnosed with various malignancies.

    • Serum ferritin levels were measured in pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at diagnosis, relapse, and remission.

    • Elevated SF levels appear to be a sensitive indicator of active malignancy in children.
    • Further research is needed to determine the utility of SF assays in monitoring treatment response for specific pediatric tumor types.
