    Summary

We analyzed a thin-metal-film fiber polarizer, finding our model accurately predicts experimental losses for TE and TM modes. This analysis aids in designing fiber polarizers by optimizing parameters like metal type and thickness.

    • Materials Science

    Background:

    • In-line fiber polarizers are crucial optical components.
    • Thin-metal-film structures are commonly used for polarization control.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To analyze a thin-metal-film in-line fiber polarizer.
    • To compare theoretical predictions with experimental results for TE and TM mode losses.

    Main Methods:

    • Theoretical analysis of a thin-metal-film polarizer structure.
    • Experimental measurement of transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) mode losses.

    Main Results:

    • The theoretical analysis closely matches experimentally observed TE and TM mode losses.
    • The model demonstrates good predictive capability for polarizer performance.
