Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the prevalence of anaerobic bacteraemias.
  • To evaluate the significance of anaerobic blood cultures in a university hospital setting in Israel.

  • Retrospective analysis of anaerobic blood culture bottles from January 1998 to December 2007.
  • Comparison of patient medical records from 1998-1999 and 2006-2007 for Bacteroides-related bacteraemia cases.
