Puncture wounds pose a clinical challenge regarding appropriate intervention levels.
Objective assessment is crucial for effective management of these injuries.

Purpose of the Study:

To introduce and validate a wound scoring system for puncture wounds.
To provide an objective framework for clinical decision-making in puncture wound management.

A thorough history and physical examination were conducted.
A novel scoring system was developed and applied to categorize wound severity.
Treatment guidelines were established based on the calculated wound score.

The scoring system categorizes puncture wounds into three tiers based on severity.
Scores 1-4 indicate local cleansing and observation.
Scores 5-8 suggest incision, drainage, foreign body exploration, and drain placement.
Scores 9+ mandate incision, drainage, lavage, IV antibiotics, hospitalization, and immobilization.
