    Summary

Binary phase gratings can double the compression ratio of binary amplitude fields. This principle enables a novel arrangement of gratings for creating high-compression array illuminators, advancing optical component design.

    Area of Science:

    • Optics
    • Photonics
    • Diffractive Optics

    Background:

    • Binary phase gratings are key optical elements.
    • Amplitude and phase modulation are fundamental in optics.
    • High compression ratios are desirable for optical systems.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To demonstrate the compression capability of binary phase gratings.
    • To propose a novel grating arrangement for array illuminators.
    • To achieve high compression ratios in optical illumination.

    Main Methods:

    • Theoretical analysis of binary phase grating interaction with binary amplitude fields.
    • Development of a grating arrangement based on the compression principle.
    • Simulation or experimental validation of the proposed arrangement.
