Summary

Robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery for pediatric fundoplication is slightly more expensive than traditional laparoscopy but less costly than open surgery. Patients benefit from reduced pain and shorter hospital stays, making the initial higher costs worthwhile.

Background:

  • Future cost-efficiency is anticipated with cheaper instruments and reduced operating times, with patient benefits including less trauma and shorter hospital stays making the investment worthwhile.
