Summary

A 61-year-old developed Candida infection in the blood after pancreatic surgery, leading to eye inflammation. Treatment with fluconazole and surgery improved vision, but inflammation returned with chemotherapy and resolved upon its cessation.

Observation:

  • A 61-year-old patient developed bilateral multifocal chorioretinitis and vitritis following pancreatic tumor surgery.
  • Ocular lesions initially responded to fluconazole therapy.
  • Pars plana vitrectomy improved visual acuity, but vitritis recurred during chemotherapy.

Findings:

  • Recurrent vitritis during chemotherapy resolved spontaneously upon treatment cessation.
  • This suggests a potential link between chemotherapy and ocular inflammation in candidemia patients.
