Sexual satisfaction in men with erectile dysfunction (ED) is linked to younger age, less severe ED, and better baseline health. Improvements in erectile function during treatment strongly predict satisfaction.

Background:

Sexual satisfaction is a key goal in treating erectile dysfunction (ED).
Understanding factors influencing satisfaction is crucial for effective ED management.

Purpose of the Study:

To identify variables associated with sexual satisfaction in men with ED.
To explore correlations between International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) satisfaction and baseline, on-treatment, and endpoint factors.

Main Methods:

Exploratory analysis of 3,935 men with ED randomized to tadalafil or placebo.
Satisfaction defined as IIEF scores > or =16 on specific questions at study endpoint.
Multivariate logistic regression used to identify correlates of IIEF-erectile function (IIEF-EF) domain improvements.

Main Results:

Satisfied patients were younger, had less severe ED, shorter condition history, and fewer comorbidities (vascular, hypertension, diabetes).
Satisfaction strongly correlated with a >=4-point increase in IIEF-EF during treatment (aOR=22.4) and high endpoint IIEF-EF (aOR=41.0).
Baseline sexual frequency was a stronger predictor of endpoint sexual frequency than endpoint satisfaction.

Conclusions:

Sexual satisfaction in ED patients is associated with specific baseline, on-treatment, and endpoint variables.
Further research is needed to validate these findings and understand implications for female partners.
