[Case for diagnosis. Erythema elevatum diutinum]

Background:

• Erythema elevatum diutinum (EED) is an uncommon form of chronic vasculitis.
• Characterized by persistent skin lesions, often on extensor surfaces.

Observation:

• A case of EED is presented.
• Lesions exhibited typical morphology: papules, plaques, and nodules.
• Older lesions showed xanthomatous changes.

Findings:

• Microscopic examination of acute lesions demonstrated neutrophilic, perivascular infiltrate.
• Dermal fibrin deposition, endothelial expansion, and leukocytoclasis were noted.
• Crucially, this presentation was not linked to any underlying systemic disease.

Implications:

• This case expands the clinical spectrum of EED.
• Highlights the importance of considering EED even in the absence of associated conditions.
• Further research into EED pathogenesis may be warranted.
