  • The patient exhibited unclear clinical manifestations, leading to a late diagnosis.
  • The multilocular cyst necessitated a total nephrectomy for complete removal.

Findings:

  • Delayed diagnosis of renal hydatid cyst is linked to poor patient outcomes and organ loss.
  • Nonspecific flank pain can be an indicator of underlying renal hydatid disease.
  • Complete surgical excision is the primary treatment for renal hydatid cysts.

Implications:

  • Increased clinical suspicion for renal hydatid cysts is warranted in patients presenting with vague flank pain.
  • Timely diagnosis and intervention can prevent irreversible organ damage.
  • Public health awareness and diagnostic protocols in endemic areas should address renal hydatidosis.
