Abstract:
The experiments reported here have shown that the parasite of tertian malaria in the mosquito host is able to survive exposure to a temperature of 30 degrees F. for a period of 2 days, 31 degrees F. for 4 days, and a mean temperature of 46 degrees F. for 17 days. In a smaller series of tests the sporonts of the estivo-autumnal parasite have shown a resistance to temperatures as low as 35 degrees F. for 24 hours.
