Immunoprecipitation

Immunoprecipitation, or IP, is a widely used technique that employs protein-antibody interactions to isolate proteins or protein complexes in their native state for studying protein-protein interactions, quaternary structures, or supramolecular complexes. Summary

Chicken antibodies were tested against specific precipitates from horse and rabbit antisera. Findings indicate that the antigenic specificities of antibodies are not influenced by their source or function.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate whether the antigenic specificities of antibodies differ based on the animal source (horse vs. rabbit).
  • To determine if antibody function influences its antigenic properties.

Main Methods:

  • Production of specific antisera in chickens using precipitates from horse and rabbit antisera.
  • Quantitative analysis of antibody removal by specific precipitates from different sources.
  • Comparison of antibody removal efficiency between homologous and heterologous precipitates.
