Abstract:
The oxygen in hemoglobin is liberated by K(3)Fe(CN)(6) and not by KCN, that in hemocyanin by KCN and not by K(3)Fe(CN)(6), that in hemerythrin by both, and that in echinochrome by K(3)Fe(CN)(6) and not by KCN. The bearing of these results on the nature of the substances involved is discussed.
