Summary

Vesicovaginal reflux, a common cause of urinary incontinence in girls, involves retrograde vaginal filling during urination. This condition can rarely lead to hydrocolpos without obstruction and may link to voiding issues.

Background:

Vesicovaginal reflux is frequently implicated in pediatric urinary incontinence.

Micturating cystourethrogram (MCU) is the primary diagnostic tool.
MCU reveals retrograde vaginal filling during micturition.
Complete vaginal emptying post-micturition is also observed.

Findings:

Vesicovaginal reflux can be a rare cause of significant hydrocolpos.
This presentation occurs without evidence of anatomical obstruction.
Functional voiding disturbances may coexist with vesicovaginal reflux.

Understanding vesicovaginal reflux is key for managing incontinence in girls.
Rare presentations like hydrocolpos necessitate thorough diagnostic evaluation.
