  • Psychotherapy and a pharmacologic protocol led to complete visual recovery within six months.
  • Final visual acuity returned to 20/20 with normal visual fields.

Implications:

  • Conversion disorders represent an important, yet often overlooked, cause of pediatric visual loss.
  • A multidisciplinary approach involving ophthalmologists, psychologists, and neurologists is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
  • Recognizing psychogenic visual disturbances can prevent unnecessary investigations and improve patient outcomes.
