Liposarcoma arising in the foot: a case report.

Background:

Liposarcoma is a malignant soft tissue tumor originating from fat cells.
It most frequently occurs in the lower extremities but is exceptionally rare in the foot.
Well-differentiated liposarcoma represents the least aggressive subtype.

Observation:

A 60-year-old female presented with a primary well-differentiated liposarcoma of the foot.
This represents an extremely rare occurrence of this specific tumor type in this anatomical location.
The tumor was surgically managed via marginal resection and metatarsal ray amputation.

Findings:

The patient experienced an uneventful postoperative recovery.
No evidence of tumor recurrence was noted at the 5-year follow-up.
