Biochemical risk factors influence calcium oxalate stone type. Higher urine oxalate and magnesium correlate with calcium oxalate monohydrate (COM) stones, while lower ratios of calcium to oxalate and calcium to magnesium are linked to calcium oxalate dehydrate (COD) stones.
