In the early stage of the republican period of China, despite the turbulent political situation, the Yale-China Association steadily developed its own medical career in Changsha, constructed Hsiang-ya Hospital, Hsiang-ya nursing school, medical preparatory school, Hsiang-ya specific medical school, and actively carried out public health work. In order to carry out all kinds of medical activities, the Yale-China Association developed a series of new strategies to improve cooperation with the Hunan government and actively contacted celebrities and the affluent class for financial assistance; it also cooperated in education and constructed hospitals.
