To culture silkworm Cordyceps cicadidae artificially.
Method:
Twenty Paecilomyces cicadae were collected and isolated from 8 natural reserves in China and the Cheju Island of Korea. By the impregnation method, their infection to silkworm larvaes and silkworm chrysalises and the synneneta production were studied.
Result:
The results showed that all P. cicadiae strains could infect silkworm larvaes and silkworm chrysalises, and some strains could produce synnenetas.
Conclusion:
The silkworm chrysalis was better than silkworm larvae to culture C. cicadidae.
