Abstract:
Recognizing that their work doesn't quite conform to the typical profile of hospital caregiving, nurses at a maximum security prison hospital in Montréal try to define their therapeutic role and how they can continue to evolve professionally in such a setting. Three main themes are identified in the article: understanding the clientele; developing an appropriate care plan; and knowledge of one's own strengths and weaknesses.
