Perioperative myocardial infarction (PMI) is a significant complication following non-cardiac surgery.
Understanding PMI's incidence and characteristics is crucial for patient outcomes.

Purpose:

To determine the incidence and clinical characteristics of perioperative myocardial infarction.
To identify key risk factors contributing to PMI development.

Summary:

A retrospective analysis of 61 patients over 9 years identified age, arteriosclerosis, and perioperative blood pressure changes as primary risk factors for PMI.
This complication is associated with high mortality.

Impact:

Preoperative assessment of coronary artery status and consideration of aortocoronary bypass grafting may effectively prevent PMI.
