This study identifies four positive survival modes in AIDS support groups: beneficent, artistic-spiritual, heroic, and rational-instrumental. These modes represent adaptive coping strategies for individuals facing life and death challenges associated with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
