Corticosteroid-induced avascular necrosis of the talus
1Department of Podiatric Surgery, Metropolitan Hospital/Parkview Division, Philadelphia, PA 19135.
Abstract:
An unusual case of avascular necrosis of the talus secondary to chronic steroid usage is presented, along with a review of the literature. Etiologic factors as well as radiographic and clinical features will be discussed. Possible treatment alternatives will be reviewed. With greater knowledge of this pathologic process, prompt diagnosis may prevent its potentially harmful sequelae.
