Objective:
To study the chemical constituents from the roots of Distylium myricoides.
Method:
The chemical constituents were isolated and separated with chromatographic techniques, and structures were identified by spectroscopic methods.
Result:
Eight phenolic compounds were isolated and identified as: 4-hydroxy-2-methoxyphenol 1-O-beta-D-(6'-O-galloyl) glucopyranoside (1), 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-phenol 1-O-beta-D-(6'-O-galloyl) glucopyranoside (2), 3,4,5-tri methoxyphenol 1-O-beta-D-(6'-O-galloyl) glucopyranoside (3), 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside (4), methyl gallate (5), ethyl gallate (6), 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (7), gallic acid (8).
Conclusion:
All compounds were isolated from the genus Distylium for the first time.
