Summary

Tianeptine, an antidepressant, effectively treated narcolepsy symptoms including sleepiness and cataplexy. The patient experienced significant improvement within one week of starting the medication.

  • The Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) was used to quantify daytime sleepiness.

Findings:

  • Treatment with Tianeptine resulted in noticeable improvements in both sleepiness and cataplexy within one week.
  • The patient's ESS score improved from 22 to 16, indicating a significant reduction in excessive daytime sleepiness.
