Summary

Amniotic fluid glucose levels are a sensitive and specific indicator for diagnosing intraamniotic infection in patients with preterm labor or ruptured membranes. Low glucose levels (<10 mg/dl) strongly suggest infection and predict delivery within 72 hours.
