Abstract:
A summary of the method of operation, performance characteristics, and applications of existing infrared tracking devices is presented for all systems described in accessible literature. Seekers, or devices for homing and system guidance, are specifically excluded. Applications are discussed from the standpoint of important physical considerations, i.e., target size and spectral radiance, background radiance, etc., a summary table of existing system characteristics is included, and three graphs of performance of three actual systems are presented.
