Summary

This case report highlights urgent surgical repair for strangulated ventral hernias using polypropylene nets. Delayed elective surgery led to acute interventions, favoring a proactive surgical approach.

Ventralis permagna hernias present complex surgical challenges.
Strangulation necessitates urgent intervention, often complicating elective repair strategies.

Observation:

Two patients with ventralis permagna experienced strangulation within the hernial sac.
Initial elective surgery plans were postponed due to various factors.

Findings:

Both patients underwent acute surgical repair utilizing polypropylene mesh.
The use of polypropylene nets was effective in managing strangulated ventral hernias.

Implications:

This case report advocates for a more proactive approach to scheduling elective surgery for large ventral hernias.
