Background:

The effectiveness of hemotherapy is significantly influenced by the interface between blood preparation and its clinical use.
Understanding this interface requires exploring the knowledge, practical realities, and improvement strategies of key stakeholders.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the knowledge and opinions of clinicians and blood bank staff regarding their counterparts' roles.
To investigate practical aspects of the blood transfusion process, including turnaround times.
To identify strategies for enhancing the quality of the hemotherapy interface.

Main Methods:

A survey was conducted among 81 clinicians and 25 blood bank staff.
The survey assessed knowledge of each other's working domains and communication strategies.
Turnaround time for blood orders from hospital transfusion laboratories was evaluated.

Main Results:

A significant knowledge gap exists; only 20 clinicians knew the four blood products and 17 knew their three uses.
Blood bank staff identified patient condition as the primary basis for blood orders.
54.3% of clinicians received blood products within one hour of ordering, with infrastructure and human resources cited as improvement areas.

Conclusions:

There is a substantial inadequacy in the cross-domain knowledge between clinicians and blood bank staff.
Despite knowledge deficits, stakeholders have well-defined strategies for improving the hemotherapy interface.
