Summary
Dannemiller's model of human color constancy is less plausible than argued. A reflectance channel requiring prior information is unlikely, and surface reflectance isn't the key illuminant-invariant descriptor used by the human visual system.
Area of Science:
- Visual Perception
- Computational Neuroscience
- Color Science
Background:
- Human color constancy enables stable perception of object colors under varying illumination.
- Dannemiller (1989) proposed a computational model for color constancy based on surface reflectance.
